The oldest working brewery in Durham!

Based just outside of Durham City in the village of Bowburn and within easy reach of the A1(M) Durham Brewery is the oldest working brewery in County Durham celebrating their 25^th year in 2019.

Despite all our years, this family owned brewery is still small, preferring to concentrate on perfecting beers rather than manufacturing volume. A visit to The Durham Brewery is like no other. Beer is a fascinating beverage which is deeply embedded in our culture. You will learn about beer history, beer culture and the way we make it.

Durham Brewery Tour

Tours take around 1.5 hours and include a tutored tasting of three beers. After the tour there is an opportunity to relax in the bar and make purchases in the shop.

We had the most fantastic [wedding] day. The whole weekend was amazing. Everything went so very well. The food was amazing as always, the décor and the ambience was all perfect. All of our guests had a wonderful time and are still talking about it, especially those who stayed over. The staff were an absolute credit…polite, helpful, courteous and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. What a wonderful experience it was and we will never be able to thank you all enough.
