Arriving by Train
Hotel Indigo Durham is around a 15-minute walk from Durham Railway Station, which sits on the East Coast Main Line. Regular direct services connect Durham with London, York, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh through LNER, CrossCountry and TransPennine Express.
The walk from the station is straightforward. Head down the station approach towards North Road, continue into the city centre, cross Framwellgate Bridge and walk through the Market Place before crossing Elvet Bridge. Old Elvet is directly ahead, with the hotel located in the distinctive Old Shire Hall building on the left-hand side.
The route is largely downhill into the city, making it comfortable for guests travelling with light luggage. Taxis are available outside the station, while local buses also provide regular connections into the city centre.

Arriving by Car
Reaching Hotel Indigo Durham by car is simple thanks to the hotel’s location just minutes from the A1(M).
Leave the A1(M) at Junction 62 and follow the A690 towards Durham city centre. Continue following signs for Old Elvet and enter DH1 3HL into your sat nav.
Parking at Hotel Indigo Durham
The hotel has a private car park with 33 spaces, including two accessible parking bays; our current charge is £20 per 24 hours.
Parking operates on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance, as the car park uses an ANPR system.
Arriving by Air
Newcastle International Airport is the closest airport to Hotel Indigo Durham, approximately 24 miles away and around a 30-minute drive.
Public transport is straightforward. Take the Tyne and Wear Metro from the airport to Newcastle Central Station before joining a direct train to Durham Railway Station. The full journey typically takes around 50 minutes.
Teesside International Airport also offers convenient access to Durham by road and rail. Please note that Hotel Indigo Durham does not operate an airport or local shuttle service.
