The walk from Finchale Abbey to Durham Cathedral and beyond to Auckland Castle is now officially recognised as part of the Camino Inglès, forging connections between Durham and the Camino routes leading to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain.

Take part in a celebratory pilgrimage starting from Auckland Castle Chapel at 9.30am, arriving at Durham Cathedral mid afternoon. Join the Dean of Durham, the Very Reverend Andrew Tremlett, the Friends of the Finchale Camino, representatives of Durham County Council, Liz Fisher from The Auckland Project, and visitors from Spain.

The Bishop of Durham, the Right Reverend Paul Butler, will start the pilgrimage with a blessing.

Pilgrims who have an official Camino passport will receive Camino Inglès stamps recognised at Santiago de Compostela as part of the Camino. The pilgrimage will be welcomed to Durham Cathedral at 3.30pm by Canon Charlie Allen, followed by a procession to the Shrine of St Cuthbert.

To book a free place on the pilgrimage please see www.durhamcathedral.co.uk/whats-on/camino-ingles-celebration or contact visitor.desk@durhamcathedral.co.uk

Please remember to reserve your table at Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill Durham.

We had the most fantastic [wedding] day. The whole weekend was amazing. Everything went so very well. The food was amazing as always, the décor and the ambience was all perfect. All of our guests had a wonderful time and are still talking about it, especially those who stayed over. The staff were an absolute credit…polite, helpful, courteous and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. What a wonderful experience it was and we will never be able to thank you all enough.
